“I love to read! I so enjoy a good story. When my children were growing up the favorite part of homeschooling was the read aloud time. I read out loud to them all the way through high school. Some of our favorites were Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, Heaven by Randy Alcorn, and Ishbane Conspiracy by Randy Alcorn. There is much to be said about a well-written book that captivates your imagination and pulls you into experience it in your mind and emotions.
I have the same love for children’s books. This is how the read out loud tradition started in our family. The children would bring me a stack of books to read from the time they could walk. We would pile on the couch and read away. Sandra Boynton, Jan Brett, and Patricia Polacco are three of my absolute favorite authors. There are those books that you read again and again. My kids returned to Miss Fannie’s Hat by Jan Karon, While Mama Had a Quick Little Chat by Amy Reichert, and Verdi by Janell Cannon too many times to count.
My joy as a MawMaw is carrying on the tradition of reading out loud to my grandkids. The amazing blessing is that God has given me the opportunity to write stories for them. I hope that they will want to talk about the story and return again and again.
Experiencing a good story reminds us of the ultimate story we are all in. God created everything and everyone. He alone is how the story of this world is restored through His Son Jesus.
So as you come to this site, I hope to inspire you to read good stories and to discuss them with your loved ones. I hope you learn something new and discover that we have all been given a story to share with the world.”
